Joomla 5.2 Release Manager

Joomla is open-source software for developing websites and web applications, developed by a team of volunteers. These volunteers are responsible for creating, testing and releasing the software, under the guidance of two Release Managers. For the development of Joomla 5.2, Peter Martin has been asked to serve as Release Manager.

In February 2024, Peter Martin and Marc DeChèvre started in that role. They participate in the meetings of various teams within the Joomla Production Department. And they are being briefed on how to add Pull Requests with code improvements to Joomla and release releases. In March, they drew up a plan with the features and improvements they want to implement in Joomla 5.2. Over the next six months, they will work with a team of volunteers in creating the new Joomla version.

The planned release date for Joomla 5.2 is Tuesday 15 October 2024.
