
Joomla 5.3.0 now available
On Tuesday 15 April 2025, Joomla 5.3.0 was released. It's a solid upgrade from Joomla 5.2 with smart tweaks. It streamlines file organization, improves task logging, enhances email handling, and boosts accessibility.

What's new in Joomla 5.3.0?
- HTML Email Templates – Enhanced - The email template view now has access to template parameters, allowing better customization of outgoing messages.
- Improved Media File Management - A new "files" folder in the Media Manager helps organize non-image files like PDFs and documents separately from images.
- Scheduled Tasks – Execution History - The Scheduler now logs full execution history, making it easier to track and debug automated tasks.
- “Read More” Link Options - New setting lets admins show or hide the article title in “Read More” links.
- Improved Accessibility - Contact component icons are now fully accessible to screen readers, improving usability for all users.
- Improved Routing - Better tag alias handling, cleaner SEF URLs, and tainted URL detection make site links more consistent and SEO-friendly.
- Modern Plugin Events - Core plugins now use typed event classes, improving code clarity and IDE support.
- Granular ACL for Component Preferences - Admins can now be granted permission to configure component options without full access to the component.
- WebAsset API Encouraged - Deprecated methods like
HTMLHelper::script()
andHTMLHelper::stylesheet()
should be replaced with the WebAsset API. - PHP 8.4 Compatibility - Joomla 5.3 adds critical updates to stay compatible with upcoming PHP 8.4, future-proofing your site.
