Nijmegen Art Night (Kunstnacht)

One of my fellow entrepreneurs at the NYMA Makersplaats is 2CV4U. They give old Citroën 2CVs (also known as ‘Eendjes’) a new lease of life. They restore these classics and hire them out for all sorts of occasions. 

On Saturday 19 September 2026, the Kunstnacht will take place in Nijmegen from 7.00 pm to 1.00 am.

During the Kunstnacht (Art Night), dozens of venues across the city will host exhibitions, installations, workshops, performances and special collaborations between artists and cultural organisations from the Arnhem-Nijmegen region. The programme is so extensive, in fact, that it’s impossible to see everything in a single evening.

During Art Night, 2CV4U / Eendenverhuur NYMA will be offering a truly unique way to get from one venue to the next: free transport in cheerful, colourful Citroën 2CVs.

For one evening, the 2CVs will be transformed into genuine Art Night taxis. They’ll follow the same route as the special Art Night Sun Train, connecting various cultural hotspots in Nijmegen, including NYMA, Honig, Hertogstraat, De Kaaij, Molenstraat and Joris Ivensplein.

Hopping on is easy. You can get in at the official stops on the Art Night map. If a 2CV comes along with a free seat whilst you’re out and about, you can hop in there too. The journey to your next event is completely free.

And what about yours truly? I’ll be getting behind the wheel that very evening. I’ll be helping out as a taxi driver, driving visitors from one Art Night venue to another in a 2CV through Nijmegen.

So if you see a little 2CV driving around during Art Night, there’s a good chance I’ll be behind the wheel.
