YOOtheme Pro 5 released
Since 2020 we use YOOtheme Pro for most of our websites. This week YOOtheme Pro 5 was released with core focus on privacy, performance, and dynamic content.
YOOtheme Pro 5 is a major upgrade across privacy, performance, and dynamic content, including a built-in cookie consent manager, lazy and on-click video loading, powerful date filtering, bidirectional relationships, an improved language switcher, and scroll-driven animations.
New features in YOOtheme Pro:
- built-in cookie consent manager: GDPR/CCPA-compliant without third-party plugins. Category- and service-level consent, flexible banner/modal layouts, placeholders for blocked embeds, WordPress Consent API support, and full design integration.
- lazy & on-click video loading: videos load only when visible or clicked. Works for backgrounds, galleries, and YouTube/Vimeo iframes. Faster pages, fewer requests, better privacy.
- videos as animated images: autoplaying, muted, looping videos across builder elements. Optional hover play, viewport pause/resume, and mixed image/video galleries via dynamic fields.
- date filter for dynamic content: filter by published date or custom date fields. Past, future, relative ranges, full calendar periods, or fixed ranges—ideal for events and schedules without extensions.
- bidirectional relationships: connect content once and load it from both sides (e.g., events ↔ organizers). Supports Joomla workflows and WordPress (ACF) setups.
- multilingual language switcher: integrated menu-style switcher for Joomla and WordPress (Polylang/WPML), with flexible placement and styling.
- new menu element: render menus or taxonomies anywhere in the builder. Sidebar, accordion, dropdown, sticky—control levels and active states.
- layout & design upgrades: scroll-driven background color animations, flexible column height filling, more rounded borders, improved margins/paddings, updated Headline and Subnav options.
- Joomla & WordPress improvements: Joomla adds a file field and search ordering element. WordPress gains more control over archive templates and improved ordering options.
- framework & performance updates: faster PHP core, refactoring for lighter builds, smarter image generation (including modern formats), stable cache URLs, and lazy loading for some source types.
- breaking changes: support for Joomla 3 and 4 removed; developers may need updates due to refactoring and API/path changes.
- bottom line: a big release that reduces plugin dependency, improves privacy and performance, and unlocks better event/date-driven sites with dynamic content.
