Joomla 4.x end-of-life

On 14 October 2025, Joomla 5.4 and Joomla 6 were released. With this, Joomla 4.x is officially EOL (end-of-life). This means this version will no longer receive security updates or support from Joomla.org.

Each major version (4.x, 5.x, 6.x) is supported for four years from its stable release:

• three years with bug and security updates
• followed by one year with security-only updates when needed.

Joomla 4 was released on 17 August 2021. Bug fixes were provided until 15 October 2024. And security updates until 14 October 2025.

Upgrade to Joomla 5 or 6

It is strongly recommended to upgrade to Joomla 5 as soon as possible and, if your extensions are compatible, also to Joomla 6 for the newest features and maximum security. In addition, Joomla 6 will now be officially supported for the next four years with bug fixes and security updates.
