Joomla 5.2.2 security and bugfix release
On Tuesday 26 November 2024, Joomla 5.2.2 was released. This version includes a security and bug fix update that resolves an issue with new 5.2.0 websites and some bugs found.
Resolved security issue
The Joomla 5.2.0 release had the flaw that during a new installation on some servers, folders and files were given too broad permissions: all files and folders were set to a so-called ‘777 permissions’, whereas 755 is recommended for folders and 644 for files. This could cause security problems in certain shared hosting environments. This error does NOT affect updates to 5.2.0 of existing Joomla sites; during the update process, Joomla automatically sets the permissions correctly.
On Thursday 7 November 2024, Joomla 5.2.1 was released to fix that issue for newly installed Joomla 5.2 websites. This Joomla 5.2.2 update resolves the issue for already installed new Joomla 5.2.0 website.
