Joomladay DACH 2023 in Salzburg, Austria

Both days last weekend at Joomladay DACH 2023 in Salzburg, Austria, were a great success. The annual German-language event for Joomla users and professionals, which took place on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September 2023, was sold out.

I attended the event and met many fellow Joomla users and developers there. Besides Joomla professionals from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, there were also some participants from England, Belgium and Italy. I also spoke there to many volunteers who also help in the international Joomla project.

There were interesting presentations at Joomladay DACH on:

  • YOOtheme Pro - with again nice new features in the next version
  • ZOOlanders Essentials - to extend functionality in cooperation with YOOtheme Pro
  • Screaming Frog - Stand alone software (for Windows, Mac and Linux) that I use for SEO analysis
  • Matomo - which I use as a privacy-friendly Google Analytics alternative
  • Structured Data - to provide meta data from schema.org to your website content for SEO, among other things
  • 60 Joomla gems - unknown extensions and tools that make working with websites more efficient and easier. My free db8 Ipsum Console Plugin for Joomla 4 was also discussed. Also discussed was d2 Profiles, a commercial extension I developed together with Sigrid Gramlinger (an Austrian Joomla expert) to make article forms easier.
  • HTTP Security Headers - allowing a website to communicate additional security measures to visitors' browsers
  • The new hidden secrets in Joomla 5 - interesting new features to be built into the next Joomla version
  • and more...

I myself gave two presentations:

  • How ChatGPT and AI will change website building - on how to use ChatGPT for your website
  • No More Lorem Ipsum - about what the "Lorem Ipsum" sample text means, why it's better not to use it and what alternatives there are

All in all, it was a very successful event at a very nice location. Next year, in 2024, the event will probably be organised in northern Germany. The date and venue will be announced later.
