Joomla 6.0.3 bugfix update
On Tuesday, 17 February 2026, Joomla 6.0.3 was released, together with Joomla 5.4.3. These are bug fixes and security updates for the Joomla 5.x and 6.x series.
Bug fixes and improvements in Joomla 6.0.3
Some improvements include:
- stronger security foundation: multiple security issues in third-party development dependencies have been resolved through updates (NPM and Composer). This reduces potential risks without requiring any action from site owners.
- better support for modern PHP versions: a deprecation warning in PHP 8.5 has been fixed, ensuring Joomla runs smoothly on up-to-date hosting environments.
- correct multilingual behavior: a bug where the selected language was ignored has been fixed. Visitors now consistently see the correct language version of the site.
- more stable article management in the backend: a small syntax issue that caused the articles table in the administrator area to break has been corrected, restoring reliable content management.
- more reliable installation and updates: improvements to the installation routine ensure extensions use the correct manifest information and that deleted files are properly handled during updates.
- fewer unexpected errors: the system now handles missing filter forms, language cache issues, and deprecated internal components more gracefully, reducing unnecessary error messages.
- correct links in email notifications: the “New Article Submitted” email template now generates the correct link for non-admin users.
- improvements to the default template: in Cassiopeia, font size validation has been enhanced so settings are properly checked and applied.
A complete overview of all changes can be found in the 6.0.3 milestone on GitHub.
Upgrading to Joomla 6 explained simply
If you are already using Joomla 5.4, switching to Joomla 6.0 is a normal upgrade and not a migration. In most cases, this is quick, safe and problem-free. Thanks to the compatibility plugin, most extensions will continue to work as usual.
However, it is still important to be well prepared. We recommend that you first test the upgrade on a local or staging environment before updating your live website. This will prevent any surprises and ensure that your website remains online without interruption.
